Like most holidays in the United States, Memorial Day has morphed into a huge shopping weekend. Retailers offer huge discounts in the hopes of people entering their doors over the three-day weekend. Whether you're moving into your new apartment home or are redecorating, how do you know which home items should you be scouring the circular ads for, what retailers are offering the best deals, and where can you shop near your apartment home at Montecito at Dos Lagos?

What to Buy Now 
According to Kiplinger, the best home items to purchase over Memorial Day weekend include mattresses, outdoor furniture and accessories, appliances (both big and small) and kitchenware.

• Mattresses: Many retailers are offering discounts of at least 50% and 0% financing! Also keep an eye on Groupon, as the site has offered mattress deals over the past two Memorial Day weekends.
• Outdoor Furniture: From grills to lawn equipment, the typical discount on outdoor items is between 20 and 50%.
• Appliances: Whether you're shopping in-store or online, look for deals that include free shipping and 0% financing. Discounts on large appliances may go up to 65%!
• Kitchenware: Both kitchen and bedroom ware prices will be slashed this weekend. You may see discounts up to 60%!

Where to Shop

Depending on how current retail sales are performing, some of these stores may begin offering Memorial Day sales as early as today! From department stores to hunting stores, these are the retailers offering the best deals! 

Department Stores: Macy's and Sears are good stores to begin searching. Macy's sales on housewares, clothing and furniture will be difficult to beat, but if you're in search of new appliances, Sears will have the best deals. The closest Macy's to Montecito at Dos Lagos is at the Galleria at Tyler in Riverside, which is a 15-minute drive away.

Home Depot & Cabela's are the places to hit for outdoor items. Cabela's sales began on May 14, so make your purchases online while items are still in stock. Home Depot will be offering deals on anything from plants to tools, perfect for any outdoor project! The nearest Home Depot is in Corona on East Ontario Avenue, which is an 8-minute drive away.

Corona Summer Activities for the Kids

It's hard to believe, but the official start of summer is only about a month away! Which also means that school is almost over for the kids! If you are in search of something for the kids to do to keep them entertained, active and that allows them to make some new friends, Corona offers plenty of options! From parks and recreational activities to classes, here are just a few of our favorite summer activities to get the kids involved in:

Aquatic Lessons & Recreational Swimming

The City of Corona is offering summer swim lessons for ages 6 months up to adults. Four summer sessions are being offered, each lasting two weeks for 30 minutes per day, Monday through Thursday. If your little one already knows how to swim, recreational swimming is every day, except Fridays, from June 6 through August 6, from 1:30 PM to 4 PM.

Corona Adventure Day Camp

This City of Corona class is for children ages 5-8 who are enrolled in Corona schools in the upcoming school year. The theme of the day camp is "Come along for the ride on Route 66," where each session, students will explore a different state along Route 66 through games, activities, crafts and more! 

NASA! Junior Astronauts

Also offered by the City of Corona, this class is for children ages 5-12 years. Participants will get to build their own rocket and launch it, and learn about comets, shuttle copters and more! 

Tom's Farms

If you're looking for a fun afternoon with the entire family in tow, head over to Tom's Farms on Temescal Canyon Road in Corona, just a 7-minute drive away from your apartment home at Montecito at Dos Lagos! Tom's has a variety of child-friendly activities including pony rides, train rides, live entertainment, magic shows and more! 

Whether your child is interested in sports, science, or music, Corona has the summer activities for them! There are also plenty of ways to enjoy quality family time outside of the house, too! Corona Area Farmers Markets

Although we do not exactly experience winter in Corona, we do have an off-season for locally grown produce. However, with the return of the spring season also comes the return of our local farmers markets! Bring on the fresh fruit, vegetables, baked goods, and the entertainment and community atmosphere that comes along with them! Here are a few of our area's farmers markets to explore!

The Corona Certified Farmers Market
The Corona Certified Farmers Market takes place every Saturday from 8:30 AM through 12:30 PM. Shoppers can select fresh produce and poultry from more than 20 certified growers. Along with the food, shoppers will also find BBQ, dessert, lemonade and other tasty treats! The market is located off of the 91 freeway, at the Main Street Marketplace, across from the Fender Museum. This farmers market is approximately a 10-minute drive from Montecito at Dos Lagos apartment homes.

Chino Farmers Market
The Chino Farmers Market is held on Wednesdays from 5:30 - 8:30 PM and is located on 13222 Central Avenue in Chino. It is about a 30-minute drive from Montecito at Dos Lagos.

Galleria at Tyler Mall Farmers Market
The Galleria at Tyler Mall market is a year-round farmers market! It is held on Sundays from 8:30 AM through 12:30 PM in the parking lot near TGI Friday's, and is a 20-minute drive from the apartment homes.

Kaiser Permanente Riverside Farmers Market
This market is open on Fridays from 10 AM through 2 PM at the Kaiser Permanente Riverside Medical Center. It is a 15-minute drive to this location.

Riverside Downtown Farmers Market
Visit this farmers market on Saturdays from 8 AM to 1 PM. It can be found on Main Street Riverside, between 5th & 6th, and is about a half an hour away.

Riverside Certified Farmers Market
The Riverside Certified Farmers Market is open every Friday from 8 AM to noon at Streetcar and California Avenues, and is also a 30-minute drive!
