Black Friday

Thanksgiving is exciting sure but many people are gearing up and training for the holiday that comes right afterwards: Black Friday. People get serious about their Christmas shopping. But that can be stressful! Waking up early, rushing around and dealing with the crowds is not much fun. If you are more of a laid back individual, consider these alternatives instead.

First things first, sleep in! Everyone else will be up before the sun trying to catch sales and deals. You can be cozy and warm in your comfy bed. Stay home and enjoy those extra hours of sleep. When you finally decide to roll out of bed, head to the state of the art fitness center to get a little early workout in. You’ll feel exhilarated and ready for your day afterwards. Relax in the clubhouse and socialize with the other non-shoppers before starting your day.

Instead of shopping big, why not keep it small? Small Business Saturday puts small local businesses first. Smaller businesses tend to get overlooked during big shopping times like Black Friday in favor of small, local businesses. While you’re shopping small, don’t forget to eat small also! Small, local restaurants need your love too!

It’s no secret that a lot of movies come out during the holiday season, particularly around Thanksgiving. This year on Thanksgiving, Pixar’s the Good Dinosaur will be premiering in theaters. Explore Mount Everest without leaving California by seeing Everest. Watching a movie is a great way to destress after the holiday and recuperate from all the food you ate. Edwards Corona Crossings is only a 3 minute drive or a 15 minute walk, so you don’t have to travel very far to unwind in a movie. Check out their movie times here.

Black Friday shopping is certainly not for everyone. Others would prefer to take it easy and stay away from the crowds scrambling for the best deals. How do you like to spend your Black Friday: shopping or relaxing?

SoCal Fall Road Trips

Just because it’s fall and the weather has chilled a little bit, that doesn’t mean you can’t have yourself a little mini vacation. Living in California means we’re blessed with pretty great weather all year round which means that the weather doesn’t restrict us in the winter as much as it would in other parts of the country. (We’re looking at you, New England.) This Sunday is Take A Ride Day so hop in the car, buckle up and head on out.

The Marine Mammal Center’s goal is to expand our knowledge of marine creatures and other sea life as well as to inspire conservation of their habitats. The Marine Mammal Center focuses on the rescue, rehabilitation and then eventual release back into the wild of multiple kinds of oceanic wildlife. Located in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, they are open to tours from the center. Admission is free so if you stop by, you’re free to explore the facilities on your own. For a fee, you can be led through the facilities by a docent who will impart on you knowledge gained through their time at the Marine Mammal Center. They will show you exhibits and other sights that you might not notice on your own. The Marine Mammal Center is about an hour away from our home at Montecito at Dos Lagos.

Your trip to Catalina Island will take a little more than just a car ride, since the island is 22 miles off the coast of California. The beautiful 22 mile long, 8 mile wide island is full of history and tons of attractions. It takes about 45 minutes to get to Newport Beach from Montecito at Dos Lagos Apartments and then an extra hour to travel via high speed catamaran to Catalina. Explore the diverse wildlife or take it indoors to the casino for a little bit of gambling. 12 miles outside of Avalon, you’ll find El Rancho Escondido, the hidden Arabian horse ranch. If you’re interested in the history of the island, you can check out the Catalina Island Museum to see over 60 years of cultural heritage collected by the museum. Take in over 7,000 years worth of Catalina Island history. You won’t regret taking to trip to Catalina Island for the weekend. Luckily we’re so nearby to the beautiful island.

Just because the fall season is here, that doesn’t mean we have to give up on vacations. California weather is kind to us and allows for summer activities all year round. What’s your go-to road trip in Southern Cali? Let us know on our Facebook and Twitter.

National Diabetes Month Events

There are over 29 million Americans living with diabetes and over 8 million of those cases are undiagnosed. Those living with the disease require treatments and care which requires funding. The American Diabetes Association is tirelessly searching for a cure to relieve the 29 million Americans coping with the disease daily. There are a ton of ways to donate and help raise money for the cause. Here’s how you can help out.

Since November is National Diabetes Month, the events are rolling in. November 21st is the annual Step Out event in Riverside, CA. While Fairmount Park is a bit of a drive at 40 minutes, you won’t regret the trip for such a good cause. Step Out is the ADA’s signature event. Over the last 20 years, since the event’s inception, more than $200,000,000 has been raised. This year’s goal is $250,000 so they need all the help they can get! The walk is a 5K (3.1 miles) but there are turnaround points if you’d prefer not to walk the whole course.

When registering for the race, if you are an adult or have a child who suffers from type 1, 2 or gestational diabetes, make sure to mark the Red Strider option. Red Striders are the reason for the event and therefore deserve recognition. On race day, they will receive a special gift to commemorate the walk as well as a personal web page to tell their story and raise funds.

If you are an individual who is interested in supporting the cause but are unable to make it on race day, you can register as a virtual walker! You can donate your money to the cause but you can enjoy the day from the comfort of your home.

While many people are aware of diabetes existing, many don’t know have the knowledge that could prevent the disease. Making the right choices can head the disease off before it gets the chance to begin. For more information and to donate to the cause head to the American Diabetes Association’s website.

Stress Awareness Day: Managing Stress in a Healthy Way

You’ve most likely known some form of stress your entire life. Whether it be tough tests in elementary school, relationships in high school, balancing school and a job in college or paying bills as an adult, stress comes in every shape and size and unfortunately, there’s enough to go around for everyone. Today, November 4th, is Stress Awareness Day, which aims to identify any stress in your life and find healthy outlets for it. There are so many outlets for you to get the stress out and relax.

Starting off with the heavy artillery might be the best way to go. Glen Ivy Hot Springs will have you loose and relaxed after just one session. Only 10 minutes away from Montecito at Dos Lagos, you won’t even have to stress out about the drive. Their traditional approach reduces stress while increasing circulation and promoting general well being. If you don’t want to go alone, you can get a couple’s massage to enjoy it with a loved one. For extra relaxation, Glen Ivy offers massages outside under the oak trees. We guarantee you’ll emerge from Glen Ivy Hot Springs a brand new person after your treatments!

Keeping it simple, sometimes all you need is a little fresh air to clear your mind and ease your troubles. Ronald W. Caspers Wilderness Park is just what you need to chase your stress away. Spend a weekend away from the world surrounded by forests and wildlife. Campsites are available if you’re looking to stay the week or the weekend. Soaking in the fresh air and sunshine while becoming one with nature might be just what you need to destress. Take a ranger guided nature walk to learn more about the local flora and fauna. With 8,000 protected acres to roam, you’ll definitely lose your troubles along the way. This trip will take you a little farther away from home with a 40 minute drive but every mile will put more distance between you and your troubles.

One of the best things to do for yourself when you’re feeling stressed and run down is to engage in some physical activity. The Yoga Den will show you how it’s done. Yoga is a natural way to improve your health and mental state through breathing practices and stretching. In addition to yoga, they also provide meditation courses to turn your focus inward and work the stress out of your mind from the inside out. If you’re just looking for a single class, they run $16 per class for either meditation or yoga. For a test run of two weeks with unlimited classes is just $25. The private classes and events add a little something extra. Their retreats and specialized classes will leave you feeling relaxed and calm. Luckily the Yoga Den is only 10 minutes away from our home at Montecito at Dos Lagos.

Preparing for the Wet Season

The months of November through March will bring with them severe and frequent rainstorms in California. It’s important to prepare for the possible floods and damage that will follow. The City of Corona is already beginning to prepare for the upcoming rains and you should do the same. Currently in the fourth year of our drought, the recent flooding and mud slides signal the beginning of the wet season which will affect much of Southern California. Do you know the proper procedures to prepare for the possible flooding?

Before the serious rain storms begin you should review your flood insurance policy. What’s covered by it? Does it need updated? Make sure that your property is covered. That’s not something that can be done after the fact!

Are you on the top floor? If you’ve been noticing a little leak in your roof, you need to alert maintenance immediately. What seems like just a small problem will be exacerbated by the coming rains and could cause serious damage. Have any leaks repaired ahead of time so you won’t have to worry about them during the storms.

You should have an emergency kit prepared and stored inside your apartment. Since the electricity could go out, gather flashlight batteries so you’ll have enough. Also make sure to have plenty of bottled water and non-perishable food items just in case. You should include a first-aid kit and a whistle.

Create a family preparedness plan so that every member of your household knows what to do in the event of extreme flooding. Everyone should designate a first point of contact so they know who they should get in touch with first in the event of an emergency during the day while the family is apart.

It’s really important to be prepared for serious emergencies such as floods. With El Niño on the horizon, there could be some severe flooding and mud slides happening through the next couple of months. During a flood avoid downed power lines, never drive through flooded areas and walking across flooded areas. Even a small current can sweep you off of your feet and there could be hidden manholes or ditches that aren’t visible to you. Be prepared and you’ll save yourself a ton of trouble. For more information head to the CA Department of Water Resources.

Corona Pumpkin Patches

Colorful leaves, hot chocolate, cozy blankets: these are just a few of the things that most exemplify the fall season. But there’s one thing that you absolutely must do during fall. You have to go to a pumpkin patch! Picking out a pumpkin whether it be to carve, to set outside your house or to make pumpkin seeds from, is one of the most fun fall activities, especially if you have kids!

At the Pumpkin Factory, they do pumpkins best! Grown on the family farm, you and your family are welcome to explore the vast options and pick the best and orangest for your home. After you pick your perfect pumpkin, head on over to the rides and games for some fall fun. For the adventurous types, strap into a harness and hop on the bungee trampoline. Or climb into a giant orb and try walking on water. For those a little more timid or younger children, take a ride on the ATV train! This ride is good for the whole entire family! There are so many other rides at the Pumpkin Factory. To see the full list of rides available check here. The Pumpkin Factory is only a short 10 minute drive away from Montecito at Dos Lagos so you don’t have far to go to find your perfect pumpkin!

You can spend hours hunting through Tom’s Farms to find your favorite pumpkin. There are just so many! Tom’s Farms is a family business sprung up from a small produce stall on the side of the road. During the rest of the year, Tom’s Farms is a great place for fresh fruits and veggies, gourmet foods and sweets. During the fall season, it’s a pumpkin patch! Every weekend throughout October, you can guess the weight of a pumpkin. If you guess closest to the actual weight, you get to take the pumpkin home! If you stop by Tom’s Farms on October 24th or 31st you can participate in a pumpkin carving contest. The winners will receive a gift basket from the store. If you think you’re a creative carver and have a steady hand, make sure you enter the contest! Tom’s Farms is located 8 minutes away from our home at Dos Lagos.

Luckily for us both of these pumpkin patches opened last week so we have a full month to find the plumpest pumpkin! The most fun fall activity is getting to carve out a face in the pumpkin and displaying it proudly on your doorstep. Do you like carving pumpkins? What’s the best one you’ve ever carved? Share your pictures with us of your carvings!

Breast Cancer Awareness Month: Race for the Cure

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. While most people are aware of breast cancer, many are unaware of the steps that need to be taken in order to detect the disease in its early stages. That’s what this month is all about! Spreading information and in turn, awareness. Corona and the surrounding area is prepared to show its support and rally together to take the steps forward to bring the disease to an end!

The Susan G. Komen Foundation is the largest non-profit breast cancer foundation in the world today. Last year alone the foundation provided over 50,000 families affected by breast cancer with financial and social support. Susan G. Komen continues to grow every year by supporting research, spreading knowledge and providing grants to families affected by the disease.

The biggest event for the Susan G. Komen foundation is the Race for the Cure which takes place all over the country during the month of October. This year the Inland Empire race takes place on October 18 and the foundation hopes to raise over $500,000 for breast cancer research!

On the day of the race, make sure to visit the interactive I AM THE CURE booth. While you’re there make a Curemitment. A Curemitment is “a commitment, a goal, a personal promise – to take one or more action steps that may reduce their breast cancer risk.” Or if you can’t make it to the race but you’d still like to make a Curemitment, you can do so online here! Check here to see how you can fulfill your commitment.

Costumes are optional but if you’re going to wear one, opt for a tutu! Wear a tutu on race day and take a picture of yourself wearing your tutu with a sign explaining why you think the funds raised are vital to the community! Make sure to share you photo on social media and tag it #DoYouTutu!

After your race, make sure you stick around for the Survivor Ceremony, recognizing the survivors of breast cancer in attendance as well as the awards ceremony. Once you finish your race, you’ll definitely be hungry so head over to the food court area to enjoy some delicious dishes from Carl’s Concessions, Juice It Up, Lil Miss Shortcakes, Papa Murphy’s and Kona Ice.

The race takes place on October 18th and the race village opens the doors at 6 AM. The 10K starts at 7 while the 5K doesn’t start until 8. There’s still plenty of time to register! Head here to register you or your team for the race. We hope to see you out there supporting such a great cause! This year’s race is located at the Lake Elsinore Diamond Stadium, only 20 minutes away from our home at Montecito at Dos Lagos.

Get Back Into the Swing of Learning

The kids are all back in school and enlightening and enriching themselves with new knowledge. Some adults, after leaving school, stop the learning process. Just because we’re out of school doesn’t mean we should ever stop learning! There are always new things to learn and old skills to be improved upon. There are plenty of opportunities in the Corona area to learn new things. We’ve rounded up just a few to give you an idea of all of the potential just waiting for you to grab it!

If you’re trying to find a way to get into shape but just going to a regular old gym is unmotivating (we’re with you on that!) you might need a new method of fitness. That’s where Z Fit N Dance comes in. All week they have a number of different Zumba fitness classes to get you up and moving. Zumba is a mix of dance and aerobic movements that will get your heart pumping while still ensuring you’re having a great time while you’re doing it. If you’re the artsy type then this next location on our list are where you’ll want to be. The Ceramic Cupboard will take you from start to finish of a piece of ceramic. Or if you’re only interested in the painting, you can do just that. You can use the pottery wheel or just your hands to form your perfect project. Then, once you’ve fired the piece and it’s solid and dry, you can add your own personal touch to it with paint. The instructors at the Ceramic Cupboard will teach you all the different methods for doing each of these techniques and many different ways of completing the projects. They have lots of extras to help give your piece that little something extra like clockwork, music boxes and trivets. The Ceramic Cupboard lets you get creative with your project in any way you choose. They’re just here to guide you! Check here for a list of their classes and the availability of each class.

The best part about these locations is that they’re each located under 20 minutes away from our home at Montecito at Dos Lagos. When you’ve taken a few classes and completed a few ceramics projects, you can bring them back home and show them off in your apartment or even teach some others. An education is the gift that just keeps on giving! That’s why you should never stop in your quest to learn.

But for the rest of us who didn’t have the chance to go anywhere it means opportunities lost. So for those who didn’t get out of Corona this summer you can still take a last minute day trip somewhere nearby without breaking the bank.

Crystal Cove State Park is a gorgeous expanse of land located off of the Pacific Coast Highway. The collection of beaches, trails and canyons is yours to explore and even camp out at. The waters offshore are considered an underwater park and are open for scuba diving. The beach is great for surfing, swimming and boogie boarding. For camping, they offer primitive campsites as well as sites for RV’s and trailers. To reserve your campsite head here. All of the trails are open not only for hiking and biking but for horseback riding as well. Crystal Cove State Park is located about an hour away from Montecito at Dos Lagos Apartments.

Laguna Beach known for its pristine and sprawling beaches and amazing shopping and dining. The hidden coves and tidepools of the beach are beautiful to explore. Some of the beaches have volleyball and basketball courts open to anyone who wants them and you can usually find a game in progress to join in on. If you’ve brought your furry companion along with you for the trip, they are only allowed on city beaches before 9 AM and after 6 PM during summer months. But if your pup wants to romp around freely, there is a dog park available for them to play in sans leash. You can relax by signing up for a beach yoga class or talk to an expert who is available for beach tours and educating you on the tidepool ecosystem. You might catch a movie out on the beach or if you’re lucky attend a concert! There is so much to do at Laguna Beach that you won’t want to spend only one day here! Laguna Beach is located an hour away from Montecito at Dos Lagos.

Aquarium of the Pacific, located an hour and a half away from Dos Lagos Apartments in Long Beach, is so big that you’ll need a full day to get through the whole building! The two floors of the aquarium are filled with everything from jellyfish and but penguins and sea otters too. Admission packages are available with scouting trips to search for blue whales, a harbor tour of the on of the most active ports in the world and Los Angeles zoo admission! The aquarium is home to a theater showing 3D movies about some of the creatures who call the aquarium and the Pacific home. To learn more about the exciting exhibits and events at the Aquarium of the Pacific, check here.

While summer might be winding down, that doesn’t mean you don’t have time for a trip. You don’t have to spend a week away to have a relaxing time and you definitely don’t have to shell out hundreds of dollars to have fun. These day trips are far enough away to feel like you’re taking a trip but close enough that it’s still inexpensive.

International Homeless Animals Day: Spreading Awareness

This Saturday, August 15, is International Homeless Animals Day a day to educate and inform people about the overpopulation of animals and the spay and neuter solution. Animals are abandoned by their owners every single day or are left to shelters and rely on their kindness and goodwill. Today, International Homeless Animals Day has been celebrated with events across the entire United States, in 50 countries and on 6 continents.

At the Corona Animal Shelter you can help a homeless animal find their forever home. The adoption fee is only $15 if the dog or cat is already spayed or neutered. The cost of spaying or neutering an animal is anywhere from $40 to $90 depending on the size of the animal. The Corona Animal Shelter is dedicated to the care of animals and people in the community. To check out a list of the animals available for adoption right now head to the Adopt-a-Pet page. You’re only a quick 15 minute drive away from finding your new best friend at the Corona Animal Shelter.

Very soon however, the Corona Animal Shelter will be moving to Magnolia Avenue to a brand new animal shelter! The new shelter will be healthier and safer for the animals housed there. The new shelter will feature sanitary fiberglass panels to protect the dogs from infections. There will be isolation kennels far removed from the rest of the population of dogs in the event of an illness to prevent it from spreading to the rest of the dogs. The cats will be kept in comfortable condos and will have their own ventilation system to prevent respiratory illnesses like the one that swept through the shelter 4 years ago. This new shelter will be a great new temporary home to these animals while they wait to find their new families!

At Animal Friends of the Valleys, you can find a new furry friend in every pen. Right now, with every accepted application, cats are only $5 to adopt! Your new fluffy companion is there waiting for you! Every Saturday you can go to the Temecula Petco and see an adoption show to find a new friend to adopt. The shelter offers spaying/neutering and all the major shots and vaccinations needed to keep your new family member healthy and happy in their new lives with you.

International Homeless Animal Day is meant to raise awareness and spread knowledge about the overpopulation of animals. IHAD also teaches that the easiest solution to overpopulation is spaying and neutering your pets! So if you bring home a new pet with you from one of these shelters make sure to get it fixed to prevent adding to the overpopulation problems we’re already facing. We hope you find your new family member at one of the shelters!

National Picnic Month in Corona

July is National Picnic Month and with this summer being so beautiful, there are plenty of opportunities to head out to one of our beautiful local parks for a gathering. Whether they be big or small, alcohol laden or not, picnics are the perfect place to unwind and enjoy the company of friends or just enjoy the solitude. All of the parks are within a 20 minute drive from Montecito at Dos Lagos apartments so you won’t need to go out of your way for a little relaxing picnic. So grab your checkered blanket and your wicker basket full of goodies and get yourself to one of Corona’s beautiful local parks.

Our gorgeous Citrus Park is 20 acres of beautiful land and activities to enjoy. The park is fully ADA accessible so everyone can enjoy it. The playground equipment will keep the kids occupied and entertained while you enjoy your picnic. Catch a softball game at the softball fields in the park. Then, if the sun is starting to beat down a little too hotly, take yourself over to the splash zone to cool off before heading back to the picnic blanket. Citrus Park is only a 20 minute drive from Montecito at Dos Lagos Apartments.

Double the size of Citrus Park, Butterfield Park has a lot to offer! The 43 acres of land offer places for barbecues and covered pavilions for gatherings and parties. Butterfield Park also has a dog park for your four legged companions to play in. The playground equipment is fun for the kids and maybe even the adults if you can swing it! The soccer fields and softball fields are a great place to watch games and enjoy the day. Finish off the day with a scenic run on the jogging course. Butterfield Park is nearby with only a 20 minute drive separating you from the beautiful grounds.

Located in the heart of Corona near E. Grand Boulevard, City Park’s 20 acres are a perfect place to throw your picnic blanket down. Bicycle racks encourage visitors to ditch the 4 wheels and hop on their bikes to travel. The horseshoe courts are a great distraction during your picnic. With basketball courts, soccer fields and volleyball courts, there’s no excuse not to have fun at City Park. After your picnic, take it to the brink at the skate park but make sure you’re wearing a helmet! City Park is a short 13 minute drive away from Dos Lagos Apartments.

While it’s the smallest park, with only 13 acres, it still has plenty to do while on the grounds. Eagle Glen Park is a small treasure and with only a 4 minute drive, it’s the closest park to our apartment complex! The park boasts beautiful soccer and softball fields as well as tennis courts. Let the kids romp around on the playground equipment before retreating to the barbecue areas to cook up some delicious food.

Weekend Beach Trips

Does the thought of having a long weekend for July 4 have you itching to take a little getaway? Make any weekend feel like a holiday by heading to the coast for a weekend trip! Even if you are unable to spend the entire weekend away, many of these attractions are also achievable day trips. Many of California's most beautiful beaches are within driving distance of your apartment home at Montecito at Dos Lagos, so fill up the tank, pack some snacks and head for the coast!

Corona del Mar State Beach
Literally translated, Corona del Mar means "Crown of the Sea," a title which once you see in-person, you will agree to! The state beach offers half a mile of coast to sunbathe on or walk along, and is popular among swimmers, surfers, divers and volleyball players. For an added touch to your trip, pack a picnic or stay to watch the sun set. One large draw is the beach's annual sandcastle contest, held in October. The drive to Corona del Mar State Beach is 50 minutes.

Huntingdon City Beach
Huntingdon City Beach is home to the famous Huntingdon Beach Pier, which attracts many to this particular location. This beach is ideal for walking, biking and fishing. The pier is separate from the beach itself, but is free and open for the public to attend daily from 5 AM to midnight. Ruby's Diner is a nearby spot to both grab a bite to eat and to take in the picturesque views. Surfing fanatics may recognize Huntingdon City Beach as the home of the US Open of Surfing. The trip from home in Corona to this beach is also 50 minutes.

Victoria Beach, Laguna Beach
One beautiful point of attraction at Victoria Beach is Victorian Tower, which was built in the 1920s. The area is also surrounded by Laguna Beach mansions, whose homeowners share private beach areas, so be careful not to cross over onto their beach. Visitors can participate in scuba diving, sunbathing, volleyball, skim boarding and body surfing. The drive time to Victoria Beach? You guessed it - 50 minutes.

There are many more beaches in Newport Beach, Huntingdon Beach and Laguna Beach! So if you are in search of a day or a weekend away from Corona, you can be at any of these beaches in under one hour!

Please be advised, reservations for Taps' Father's Day Brunch are limited, so be sure to call them to book yours before it is too late!

Shops at Dos Lagos
If you're in the mood to celebrate Father's Day a day early, on Saturday, June 20, The Shops at Dos Lagos is holding a special event from 11 AM through 1 PM in the children's play area. Something intangible you can provide on Father's Day is the gift of quality time. Spend the afternoon lounging by the Montecito at Dos Lagos pool and have a cookout for dinner! Time together as a family is not only precious, but priceless.

Celebrate National Donut Day

Whether you spell it "doughnut" or "donut," the important takeaway from this post is that today is National Donut Day! Sure, any day of the year has the potential to become a donut day, but on this day, and this day alone, you could eat donuts for breakfast, lunch and dinner and it would be socially acceptable.

Believe it or not, National Donut Day actually began at The Salvation Army during World War I when female volunteers (which came to be referred to as 'donut lassies') baked donuts to both send overseas to lift soldiers' spirits, and to create a greater awareness and support for troops throughout the Chicago area. This went on to create a nationwide trend that was resurrected during World War II.

If you plan to indulge in these sweet, doughy pastries today, here are a couple of suggestions on where to go:

Baker's Dozen Donuts
Take a drive along downtown Corona's Main Street and you will come across Baker's Dozen Donuts! Baker's Dozen prides itself on being both affordable and spacious, in addition to being delicious. Baked fresh daily, their donuts are made with high-quality ingredients. Baker's Dozen also offers a variety of other baked goods, including bagels, muffins, churros, sundaes and more! Baker's Dozen is approximately 15 minutes away from your apartment home at Montecito at Dos Lagos!

Yum Yum Donuts
With locations "sprinkled" throughout the Inland Empire, Yum Yum Donuts has quite a wide variety of fresh donuts ready to go! Are you picky about what form of donut it is? Choose from donut holes, cake donuts, fritters, raised ring and more. To see just how many types of donuts they serve, click the link above.

You might even prefer to undertake the task of making your own donuts! If that's the case, try these recipes from The Kitchn! Recipes include vegan donuts, sweet potato donuts and more!

Where are some of your favorite bakeries in the Corona/Riverside area? Share your thoughts on Montecito at Dos Lagos' Facebook and Twitter pages!

Antiques and Collectibles Faire

Are you searching for some new items to decorate your apartment home? Whether you are in the process of redecorating or if you love to watch episodes of "Antiques Road Show," you will undoubtedly love this upcoming Corona event - The Fourteenth Annual Corona Antiques and Collectibles Faire! This event unites antiques vendors and collectors under one roof, in addition to offering a glimpse into the past. The motto of this event is "If it isn't old, it won't be sold!" but please note, the faire is not a flea market. Although you cannot sell your personal artifacts, there will be plenty of licensed vendors to purchase rare items from.

The first antiques and collectibles faire took place in 2002 with approximately 30 dealers and 3,000 guests, and has grown to become one of the Corona Heritage Park and Museum's most successful events, with vendor spaces regularly selling out.

The 2015 event takes place this Saturday, June 6 at the Heritage Park and Museum, with doors opening promptly at 8 AM. According to Inner Circle Corona, visitors can expect to see a range of items, including "vintage decor, folk art, depression glass, silver, china, tin plates, dolls, furniture and collectible do-dads" from dealers from all over the Inland Empire. Aside from the art, antiques and collectibles, visitors will also find a variety of tasty food, including barbecue, kettle corn and fresh-squeezed lemonade. The Corona Heritage Park and Museum will be open during the faire, too. Once the faire ends at 3 PM, explore some of the exhibits that the museum currently houses. Admission to the antiques and collectibles fair is free!

If you have never visited the Heritage Park and Museum, it is located at 510 West Foothill Parkway in Corona. From your apartment home at Montecito at Dos Lagos, the museum is less than a 15-minute drive away!

Have you visited this event during any of the previous 13 years? What types of artifacts did you score? Are you attending this year's event? Share your faire finds on the Montecito at Dos Lagos Facebook and Twitter pages!
